As we continue on the journey to develop our ability to Hear the Voice of God, I have been very encouraged by people’s responses.
There was a particular moment when I felt God was asking me whether I really wanted to have a relationship with him or whether I wanted to keep him on the margins of my life. The verses God used to challenge me were Psalms 32:8-9:
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.
I feel like we are at an important moment in the life of our church where God is asking us the same question… do we really want to let Jesus be our leader, and listen to him, or do we want to keep him safely on the margins?
In the hearing God’s voice course this week we read the quote from Rob Reimer:
Your next level with God lies beyond the boundaries of your current experiences. The only way you can get there is to risk more than you are comfortable with.
Soul Care
I wonder whether God might be asking whether we are willing to risk more than we are comfortable with so that we might truly be open to him?
I understand that some people may have genuine questions as to whether God still speaks today. We want to be the kind of church where it is always ok to be wrestling with real questions.
We have uploaded an article from Jeremy and Lisa Peter’s Hearing God course particularly for anyone who wants to explore that question further: HERE
