Israel Folau intentionally aimed a sermon at people outside the church (he addresses Australia directly in this video: https://www.facebook.com/592277641115…) and blamed the bushfires and drought on changing same-sex marriage laws and abortion.
It is clear he did this with good intention but a terrible understanding of the bible and even the Bible verses he was quoting.
A number of church leaders have spoken against his message but sadly the loudest Christian voice in the media, the Australian Christian Lobby, replied with what sounded like political doublespeak.
The Australian Christian Lobby claimed that the news reports were unfairly characterising his sermon so in this week’s Unfake News Matt is looking at what Izzy actually said in his sermon and how that compares to what the Bible says.
