Our three congregations… You will be welcomed as you are at any of our three services, but first of all you will need to decide which Citywide congregation you will be checking out. Lenah Valley 10 A.M. Sundays is our slightly more laid back congregation that has a particularly strong sense of family and a very comfortable auditorium with lots of natural light. We don’t have a structured kids program at this campus, but we do have cafe style tables for kids to sit at with their families while church is happening if they wish and there is also a “cry room” where parents can stay in touch with the service while caring for their kids. Mornington 10 A.M. Sundays is our slightly bigger congregation with a wide range of ages and a structured children’s program. We encourage kids to stay with their parents for the first 15 minutes or so of the service and then they will head out to their special program with the “NRG kids” leadership team. At Mornington we have a rock band that leads us in singing in a big auditorium with lots of space. Nepalese Language, Lenah Valley 1 P.M. Sundays is specifically for Nepalese speakers and features singing, performance, prayer and teaching in the Nepalese language. There is also a Nepalese language class for children while the church service is happening. What should I wear? Whatever you are comfortable in. People wear anything from jeans and t-shirts to jacket and tie. What is your address/location?
Mornington
400 Cambridge Road
Lenah Valley
2 Pottery Road
Can I park?
Yes – there is a church car park with lots of space at Mornington. Our Lenah Valley campus is in a quiet residential street with parking available on all surrounding streets.
What time should I arrive?
Getting here 5 to 10 minutes before the start time is a great idea, particularly if you have children and want to make sure they know what to expect. At all three congregations, you will meet someone on the front door who will be ready to answer any questions you might have.
How do I make sure I am not in someone’s seat?
There is no such thing! If a seat is empty, you can sit there.
What do I need to bring?
Just you! Song words are projected during singing times, as are bible readings and verses when they are needed.
Our sermon notes are available each week on the YouVersion Bible app which is available on every mobile phone app store if that is helpful, however not all of our people use it and most references will be on the screen.
Can I bring my children?
Yes! Children are very welcome – at any age, bring them along with you to either Mornington or Lenah Valley campuses.
What if my child makes a noise?
Your child probably will make a noise, and that is fine – we would rather have the noise and your lovely child and you. We are happy for you to get up and move around if it helps you to comfort your child – there is a cry room at the back of both Lenah Valley and Mornington, and some books and toys, if it helps.
When do the children go to the Sunday School?
As mentioned above, we have a structured children’s program at Mornington and the service leader will announce when it is time for the children to go out. Your children can either go on their own with all the others, or you are welcome to take them out, and stay while they settle in. You collect your children when the service ends.
Also as mentioned above we have a Nepalese Language class that children attending our Nepalese language service are welcome to attend.
How do I know when to stand or sit?
The person leading the service will make that clear. We usually stand just for singing. Look around and see what other people are doing if you are not sure.
What if it is a Communion service?
There is nothing to worry about. At the appropriate point in the service, trays with bread or broken crackers, and individual “cuplets” of grape juice are passed around. You stay in your seat and hold on to these and the leader will clearly indicate when to eat the bread and drink the juice.
Who can receive Communion?
The altar is the ‘Lord’s table’ not ours so all are welcome, however, it is a special part of the Christian journey that we encourage you not to take lightly. If you are not sure you are at a point where you want to be a follower of Jesus it is fine just to pass the little cups and bread along, you won’t be the only one who does.
At our Nepalese Language service we would ask that only those who have been Baptised participate in communion.
Do you have toilets?
Yes
At Mornington they are directly off the auditorium, including facilities for people who are disabled, and off the cafeteria.
At Lenah Valley they are just past the kitchen area.
What happens after the service?
At the end of the service the leader says a brief closing prayer and invites everyone out to the cafeteria (in Mornington) or just up to the serving window (in Lenah Valley) for morning tea. People will tend to chat for a few minutes in the auditorium, then many will drift through to the cafeteria. We would love to meet you – so please come through and join in. Some people leave straight after the service but many hang around chatting to new and old friends.
Any other questions? Please just ask…]]>
